I can't believe this has happened Can't believe my eyes That everything I've ever wanted Is finally realized. The clouds have parted The rainbow's started Everything's perfect, hummingbirds darted Across the sky, fluttering by It's so beautiful, I'm about to cry Look at the sun, shining down on the world Providing warmth for all the little boys and girls Eating their ice cream that they got for free. Because the Ice Cream Truck just crashed into a tree. There's mothers laughing and having a great time There's even a guy who's a very good mime. Entertaining themselves and more importantly each other Little girls playing with their normally annoying brother The smiles on their faces show no remorse Uncaring that they're on what was once a golf course That hosted fundraisers for the ones that couldn't eat The ones that these people will never ever meet. But don't blame them, they're certainly not The only guilty party, certainly not the only lot Turn around into the neighborhood that's far downtown Nobody's walking around with even a glimmer of a frown In fact, you'd think they were just given the crown And the huge, shiny golden key to the city Because all of their faces look so damn pretty. Whether they be in the grocery store, or in the pawn shop Indifferent to the fact that in the alley, there's a dead cop. They all look happy, buying their things That one really inexpensive gorgeous diamond ring Where did they get it? Really, nobody cares. When in reality, they got the ring upstairs From the widow of a marriage lasting 50 years And the loss of that ring brings forth infinite tears Robbing the rich, stealing from the poor Thieving from the unlucky, and then sold to the first store That'll give them 50 dollars and a six pack of Coors. Yeah, this is a world that you really wouldn't hope for And this isn't the town you'd take your love and elope for But this is the life that people climb up a slope for It looks amazing to the naked eye, but that's what your telescope's for.
